A remix over his single "Airplanes".. must say that I'm loving the new lines in this and the overall vibe that Eminem brings to it ^^x
Well, its still at an infant stage.. but the Instants! Collection already has a nice library of sound effects... hopefully it grows larger over the year and would be just in time for next year's hall prod ^^x
Heard it over the radio and thought it was an interesting thought.. I don't really like to use the T9 dictionary.. true... manual typing is a tad slower.. but at least it saves you from the following situations..
Hey, can you finalise on the script/rapist by tonight? So that we can have the auditions next week.
I'm craving for a pint/shot of beer, wanna chill?
Going overseas? Can get me some Smirnoff/Poisoned vodka? Wanna use it at the upcoming class gathering ^^x
Quite sian at home today... free anot? Wanna go/in out later?
Thanks for the hand/game... really nice to relax after the stressful week.
Hmm.. okay so its the exam periods and everyone needs to like relax alittle every now and then.. well.. really loving the parodies by JawKneeYeah at the moment =P ... some of the ideas are fresh, and though his singing is a tad O_o .. his guitar skills are great!
.... Click Here to watch more JawKneeYeah videos~ ^^x...
I've always loved the Gorillaz and their song "Feel Good Inc."
It just has that level of insanity and sadness in it about the sad state of the world today... really deep on many levels.. especially love Noodle's constant ironic sighs of "feel good"...
Yeah, its one of those songs that I would immediately put everything down and spends days and nights learning how to rap it out... but these days... I just feel that rapping it out is just not satisfying enough.. sometimes the words don't do enough justice to the song.
Must say I am totally inspired by this cover... Can't wait for the holidays really.. am gonna dust my guitar and hopefully get in touch with it again..
One day... maybe one day... I can be like that too... *dreamy*

UNIVERSITY ADMISSION
JC students deserve priority
POLYTECHNICS lure students with glossy brochures and spiels about their fabulous courses, but fail to tell them how difficult it is for them to enter local universities via the poly route.
How many 16-year-olds will forgo sexy-sounding courses like communications and finance over subjects like physics, chemistry or mathematics?
Ironically, these polytechnic brochures often boast of how many of their graduates enter university. But they are silent on the reality that employers value degrees more than diplomas.
Polytechnic graduates cannot have it both ways. They must know the Government spends more to train a polytechnic graduate than a junior college (JC) student.
So they cannot expect a second bite of the cherry with the same priority in university admission as JC students who complete two years of school and hold only an A-level certificate.
Polytechnics pride themselves on hands-on training while JCs arm a student with more in-depth grounding in core subjects to prepare them for university.
To JC students, university is and has always been their final destination. To poly students, their end point, in Singapore at least, should be their diploma.
If they want to go beyond that in Singapore, they should choose the JC route. If they do not qualify, it is not the Government's fault.
Nothing should stop them from pursuing their dream overseas, but they cannot expect greater access to local universities just because it is costlier to study abroad.
A place in a good local university is a limited resource and should go to the most deserving; in this case, those who qualify for JC and have consciously decided to take the JC path to prepare themselves for a university education and not a diploma.
In the past, a JC education was called 'pre-university' education, and it is precisely that.
So it is time polytechnic graduates accepted the implications of their decision to choose between polytechnics and JCs, and not gripe that the system is unfair.

Well, I'm not going to comment further on how ironic and wrong this post is really... I think most who are well-informed, will know the other side of the story.
Although, I gotta say, I'm glad to the poly teaching for giving a tight slap across the face at times, and showing us the harsh reality of life. Something that I feel is at times lacking in the sheltered JC curriculum... although I got to feel for them.. frankly, if you don't make it in the JC system, you are screwed with a half-a$$ed A levels cert.. that brings you nowhere.. can't blame them for feeling the stressed and tensed about the future...
But yeah, if even the elite JCs are moving towards the more hands-on poly approach, something must be done right... too bad really if this hands-on approach creates better employees and students...
maybe the other side he should be looking at is, if you know that you are going to be screwed, and unlikely to get into the top cohort of JCs... maybe one should just be humbler and settle for the poly route.. get a diploma, work a few years.. then get a degree from a private institute.. but yeah.. like I said.. sadly.. our sheltered curriculum don't really show us these harsh facts of life, till its too late..
Alright, I guess this is long overdue.. been wanting to post up my thoughts about this song, and I guess better get it out while its now hot in my mine.. okay.. so the original version just featured Green Day..
gotta say, its a great track!! The video really gives the lyrics that added depth.. in terms of what is important these days.. love conquering all.. the added comfort of finding someone in the midst of the chaotic world.. and that fragile nature of this love.. how close it might hit home and hit us all..
frankly, I love the lyrics to bits. Love the double-entendre of the lyrics.. especially the chorus..
" ... One, 21 guns,
Lay down your arms, give up the fight,
... One, 21 guns,
Throw up your arms into the sky, you and I... "
Here.. the use of "arms" can take on 2 forms.. both of which are quite appropriate. And my favourite line of the whole song is that of..
"... Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone... "
Take it from a more morbid view.. and it equates to my other favourite line from "Live like we're dying" ...
"... When you pray for absolution, there will be no one on the line... "
Okay.. So what really motivated me to put this up finally.. well.. I came across a cover version of the song.. basically Green Day collaborated with the casts of the musical "American Idiot" and came up with a fantastic piece.
It's like, suddenly, the same song, just feels so much more meaningful... love the vocal harmonics and the use of a higher octave for the final chorus... really sent the tingles down my spine ^^x
Okay, months back I blogged about this song by Kris Allen ... well... it seems that he was doing a cover of the song which was already done by The Script.. which was released in the Japanese version of their album... well.. gotta say kudos to the original for the lyrics.. but must say.. that I still prefer the Kris Allen version.. somehow just more omph! and more life =P
Okay.. next few videos will be dedicated to my current favourites during this exam period.. great band.. and lovely lyrics ^^x
"... I'm sick of looking for those heroes in the sky,
to teach us how to fly.
... There's so much sad gonna fill the ocean,
We're all in tears for the world is broken... "
Finally watched the video after Fab/Shoe Recco-ed it months back. Yeah, gotta say its a very very clever double-entendre. And the fact that radios are playing it unchanged.. well kudos to the writers!
although.. gotta say the "to" in there.. really spoiled an otherwise perfect double-entendre.. well.. it brings me back to another point... months back Eelin and Nick went out for a play at Fort Canning.. "Much Ado about Nothing"..
Well... to most of the world.. it is the most innocent of titles.. but yeah.. once you've learnt about Shakespeare and Elizabethan English.. the scenario does seem amusing ^^x.. must say its one of the really well made double-entendre I've seen... really a genius.
Much Ado about Nothing...
... much ado about n O-thing....
And yes, its out already in US.. dang.. must say, I'm liking the concept
Alot of people have been slamming in on the forums, but hey, here is another perspective..
Let's say, you have a craving for chicken, and at present, you would have to buy a 2- or 3- piece meal... for me, that would mean that I would have to dine-in or takeaway, due to the messy eating process.. with this, I would be able to munch on the go.. something that I can't even really do with a zinger meal.
And frankly, if one goes lean on the oil with the grilled version, I think it is even better than a normal burger.. its more of the excessive carbs that are the problem these days.. lean protein is a-ok by me ^^x.. at most, you can opt for coleslaw with it to make it feel less guilty ^^x
Must Say I'm loving the concept of the A-Box.. cool item to bring around the island and for getting stopped at MRTs and Airports...
But yeah... it has that tinge of nostalgia in there...
The only down point is the cost...$339.00 and $475.00 for the 2 sizes... well.. guess its only a dream for the rich.. or a call for DIY =P
A simple idea. Yet amusing results. Enjoy ^^x
