Onto Foodies~ And as many people said, Taiwan is the land of snacks and foodies. I think the 4 kg I put on says alot.

The first food place we visited was the Modern Toilet Restaurant in Kaohsiung

Frankly, we had a hard time finding this restaurant. As there were two outlets, we decided to go to the nearer one to our hotel, their Wunhua Store. However, after circling many times along the street, trying to look out for their shop, we concluded that it must have either closed down or closed for the day.

The helpful staff from National Citizen Hotel, then helped us locate the other outlet, the Fumin Store, and coordinated with the cab driver, to finally bring us to the restaurant ^_^x

As I have never heard of the restaurant before, I was quite fascinated by the outlook of the restaurant.

I must say, they really brought out the toilet theme, in all its cleanliness. It was a really pleasant experience.

Her main course came in a toilet bowl. Appetizing Korean kimchi hot pot.

And so did mine. Pork Chop Cordon Bleu. A breaded pork chop with cheese within. Nice creamy mix.

Special shakes came in plastic urinals that you can take home with you. We had an orange milk shake.

The deserts came in cute little squat urinals. This was a vanilla and coffee ice-cream

Or in a basin. The cheeky smile. Can't believe I ate it. A mess of chin chow, pearls, taro-balls and hard agar-agar, in honey sweet ice. The torture. Please avoid the black dragon at all costs, unless you like the above.

Foodies at Jiufen were good too. Everyone scrambled to get Tai Yang Bings from the Ah Xing's shop. Cute items like this peach muah-chee covered moose thinggi.

Or the lady selling these half-Chinese, half-Indian dogs. Nahx, its actually Taiwan Sausage and Squid sausage. Interesting combination and taste.

We also had a dinner at King Ping Tea Restaurant while in Taipei. The entire course was served mainly in steamers, showcasing the different dian xins avaialable. Of course, there were xiao long baos. *yum~*

And a unique glutinous rice steamed dumpling.

Desert was also steamed, tasting much like tu-tu cakes, though not as fluffy.

A point to note, flower tea in taiwan, comes from the real goods.

Another exotic restaurant we went to was the Five Dime restaurant, or Wu Jiao Chuan Ban.

Upon entering the area, you are engulfed by the unique architecture, the clay statues looming over you, or the clay spirals trailing from the ceiling, the twisting and turning nature of the building, the lack of lighting in this tall structure.

Unique seats

And a little insight to its origins.

Earthern wares and one of the best muah-chees I ever ate. Very smooth and chewy.

Rice comes with a sweat potato. And the fact that the owner is a doctor, brings to mind healthy living.

Tofu. Mmmm healthy.

More greens. Must say that this soup was one of the most qing dan ones that we had on the trip

Finally some meat =K

More Greens

And the first real seafood on the trip thus far (Excluding the daily servings of fish)

More meat =K Must say these slices were really lean!

Fish~ though this is the first bone-less fish of the trip

My favourite greens for the meal

And many people had trouble finding the elusive toilets as there were no signs available. Love the earthern feel to it.

The sweet irony. Automated Wooden doors.

We also had dinner at Ye Chun, a bbq restaurant in Kaohsiung. Much like Seoul Gardens but with a separated area for soup and charcoal bbq. Sitting style is like that of Koreans or Japanese, bare-footed on a raised platform with a short table. There is also a vacuum above the bbq stove to remove the fumes. The buffet is great, not stingy with the portions and slices and tender lean meat with minimal fat.

Their specialty are these bbq muah-chee.

After roasting, they will inflate.

Dip them in sauce and dip provided. *yum~*

And Eelin highly recommends the Ah Chung mee sua from Shi lin Night Market. It is much lighter than the Singaporean Shi lin version and the ingredients blend nicely, but for me, I would have prefered it with a richer thicker, richer taste =P Comes in small (which we had) and large bowls.

Another nice snack were these baked cheese cakes from Liu He Night Market in Kaohsiung.

You get a bag of assorted designs.

And they are light too, perfect for over-indulging.

Almost everywhere there were fried chicken chops too. Overall they taste much better than those over-salty ones in Singapore. The taiwan kinds actually have a sweet after-taste too, and are not too over-powering. The downside is that most of them have bones in them, much like those from Malacca. Making it a hassle at times. But it is worth it =P

Who is the chubbx~ =K

And I have to give the taiwanese 2 thumbs up for the effort they put into packaging. Makes even a trip to 7-11 so interesting =3

Cute

Aww...

I knew Chubbx was stalking me....*shifty eyes*

~Hmph~!! .../ ignore.

Ang~ Ang~ Ang~!

I wonder...

Although at times, it does seem a tad queer...

Or plain disturbing

And frankly, who chews coffee flavoured chewing gum?

On a side note though, the mos burger in taiwan is freaking cheap. Only $17 SGD for a meal, a soup, another burger, 2 medium iced cofees and 6 piece strawberry desert. Wow.
